Name: Jon Ostrow – MicControl
Website: http://MicControl.com
What You Do:
A social/ blogging/ learning network for the emerging music community.
How you got started: MicControl was born out of the noticeable lack of organization throughout the biggest social networks, and the lack of blogging and content creation in so many of the canned social networks that offer members just another place to create profile.
Your Most Recent Project:
MicControl – creating the website, building the database of artists, establishing the network on bloggers on the site.
Your Next Project:
Increase functionality of the site, offering more in the ways of music promotion and discover. Begin to run competitions (this section is already in place on MicControl, we just need a large enough community of members to back the competitions).
The One Thing You Think Every Musician/ Band Should Know:
Your Band or Artist name is your brand. Not enough musicians understand that they are starting a business and should treat it as such. An emerging musician is an entrepreneur. They have a product and/ or a service depending on their model (studio musician, live performance musician or both).
Bio:
With over 10 years of hands-on music experience, Jon turned his focus from music creation to community growth, offering music enthusiasts, musicians, music bloggers and industry members a combined social, blogging and learning network. MicControl is a labor of love, fueled be a supreme passion for music. Jon studied Jazz at the University of Rhode Island and plays bass in a Jazz infused Rock n’ Roll group called Three South.
