Here are some songwriters and performers who are taking steps or leading the way in using online tools effectively for marketing, promotion, and exposure.
NOTE: There are major, larger artist, who are doing so – but my focus is on the songwriter who must, for the most part, do it themselves or with a couple committed street team members. While Trent Reznor and NIN have done an amazing job of using technology and the web to engage their fans, many of their strategies or tools are beyond the reach of the aspiring and working performer.
This is, by no mean, a comprehensive list. I am simply hand-picking a few performers I have connected with and spoken to or chatted with online.
If you have a great site for me to check out and review, I will be glad to do so.

Kevin Montgomery He may be the poster child for early adoption and use of a number of tools. Particularly, he has videos from house concerts and his workhorse “50 States in 50 Days” tour, that go back years. |

Lorelei Loveridge Lorelei and I have had several discussions on the business of music and the fine line between becoming focused on you as a product and you as an artist. Is there a difference? Is there a balance? She also started the Performing Songwriter’s (Worldwide United) on Facebook. |
